Green Cards Through Family

Green Cards Through Family

We help people petition (petitioners) for their family members (beneficiaries) who may be eligible to apply for their lawful permanent residence (green card). These beneficiaries include:

  • People already in the U.S. who may be able to get their green card without leaving the U.S. The process of getting a green card from within the U.S. is called adjustment of status.
  • People already in the U.S. who may need to file a waiver before leaving the U.S. to get their green card (please see Consular Processing)
  • People outside the U.S. who will enter the U.S. with their green card (please see Consular Processing)

Depending on whether the petitioner is a U.S. Citizen or a Permanent Resident, family members may include:

  • Spouses (including same-sex spouses)
  • Children
  • Parents
  • Brothers and sisters
